Have you registered someone as your Information Officer?

What this means

Every South African business needs one named person answerable for how it handles personal information. By default that's the owner or CEO.

Registration is done on the Information Regulator's website — it's free.
If you've never done it, the honest answer is "No", and it's one of the quickest things to fix.
Naming someone in a document but never registering them is the middle option.

Failing to appoint an Information Officer is an offence in its own right. Penalties run to R10 million, and each breach is counted separately.
